Is it time we started getting excited about Time Gentlemen, Please?
So things have gone ever so slightly awry on the TGP front, as you may well have noticed. What was very much supposed to be a teeny-tiny fun little follow-up to Ben There, Dan That! has somehow accidentally blossomed into a big crazy action-packed full-length adventure game. Whoopsie!
Time Gentlemen, Please! is suddenly somehow slightly longer than Ben There, Dan That! was. It also looks exponentially prettier, and I thought it’s about time I showed off some of the stuff that’s near-as-dammit ‘done’.
First thing, the Dan and Ben images have been smartened up, with shading and detail added. Don’t worry, their classic walkcycles remain very much in tact, they’re just a little easier on the eye:
After the jump, screenshots :)
Everything looks slightly crisper - it’s running at a higher resolution and with much more detail and care put into the locations, but still with that scatty BTDT look and feel:
What else? Oooh, there’s also the EmotionsEngine, which shows whether Dan and Ben are happy, grumpy or relatively indifferent to a scene.
Excitingly, I’ve somehow roped an oh-so clever chap called Nick in to work on some ‘particle effects’, which is the sort of futuristic thing games need these days if ‘the kids’ are going to talk about it in the playground. You can’t see any of these so-called ‘particles’ in these screenshots, but I assure you they do exist, helping the game look much more fluid and funky.
If you somehow haven’t played Ben There, Dan That! yet, maybe now’s the time to get in on the action.
If you want to know when the game’s out, but don’t want to keep checking back here, I’ve gone to the massive trouble of setting up a mailing list:
Just slap your email into that box, hit subscribe, and I’ll let you know the very instant you can scurry back here and play the game.

That looks sexcellent.
Funk-o-tronic! :D
Haha, awesmoe parrot :D
Will there be a Linux version?
(semi-kidding! It’d be cool, but Windows is fine!)
You guys lied. You said there wouldn’t be a sequel. I love liars.
Any chance of us finding out who won the create-a-character contest?
The cameo was won by strange_visitor, who you can see in the screenshot above: http://www.zombie-cow.com/foru.....2#msg13782
I’ll announce it ‘properly’ in the runup to the game’s release, but thanks to everyone who entered, every entry was a joy to read. :)
Heh…that screenshot coincidentally shows *exactly* how I dress up in my leisure time on weekends. It’s like looking in a living mirror!
Nice ball-oons, by the way. :) Now if only I was giving out sample cups of tapioca pudding, too…
Don’t want to sound like a bloody bastard, but I’d wish for a change in style something SCI-FI, at least that’s what the title hit me with initially. I still think the game will be top notch mind you, eh..
Well, there’s obviously something a sci-fi element to it but it does feel ever so slightly more grounded than BTDT in an odd way… no alien spaceships this time, but time travel hijinx, so hopefully something for everyone :)
This will be AWESOME
think you should include more of the cameos in later games. the suicidal cow who ran around convicing people to eat beef made me laugh… as did a few others. Will take a look at the old entries, could be funny.

Yay, cool.
I did enjoy the first game.
All the best with this sequel.
