Cruxade now nearly free

Posted by dan  Published in Cruxade, News

Cruxade is now dirt cheap.

$5.99 works out at £4, which is alarmingly close to free. If you haven’t experienced its block-dropping addictive goodness yet, now’s the time.

Enjoy!

Let’s give Cruxade some love.

Poor Cruxade. what with all the excitement of Ben There, Dan That! doing so damned well, I’d sort of forgotten it existed, to be honest with you.

Which is a shame, because I fired it up last night to see if it was as much fun as I remembered, and wound up losing an hour and a half before I knew what I was doing.

I haven’t really spoken about it, or promoted it anywhere. It’s sold a couple of copies, but I think everyone just assumes it’s the Match-3 game that Indie Devs are obliged to make. It isn’t really, it’s more of an homage to one of my favourite games of all time - Lumines, although it has its own unique mechanic, obviously. I’m no cloner.

Alright, so it doesn’t have any unnecessary jokes about wanking in it (missed a trick there, dammit) or little dinky mines blowing peoples’ faces off, but it’s still a damn fine and solid game.

It was written so I could learn the basics of XNA before doing something serious and grown up, and it served that purpose well. If you enjoyed Ben There, Dan That!, but don’t want to just give your money away for no reason, have a look to see if you like Cruxade, and buy a copy if you do.

Or at least have a download of the demo, and let me know what you think…

In proper news: I think I’ve picked a winner for the Star in an Indie Game contest, but there’s still time to wow me with your entry if you fancy it.

Welcome to Zombie Cow Studios!

Posted by dan  Published in Ben There Dan That!, Cruxade, Gibbage, News

Well, it’s been a frightfully long time coming, but here we are, at last.

To celebrate the launch of the almighty Zombie Cow Studios, we’ve dropped the price of Gibbage to a mere £3/ $6-ish, and released another couple of games on top:

First up is Cruxade, a block-dropping homage to the likes of Tetris and Lumines. It’s curiously addictive in a mind-bending puzzle sort of way.

Or maybe freeware comedy adventure Ben There, Dan That! is more your cup of tea? It’s an old-school point-and-click game filled with witty dialogue and brillo puzzles.

Or there’s classic stalwart Gibbage, the game that started it all. It’s a 2D cartoon deathmatch game, and is still properly amazing and now half price.

What an eclectic bunch of games, eh? You’ll be pleased to hear that work has started on the next project, which is still very much in pre-production but on the move. Now I’ve finally tidied up the final releases of Cruxade and Ben There, Dan That! and launched the website, I can devote some proper time to our next amazing game.

Because the website’s BRAND NEW, there are liable to be a couple of spelling mistakes and broken links kicking about the place – if you spot one, please send me a pm via the forums, or drop me an email.

Have a look around, sign up for The Forum, grab our rss feed and enjoy. It’s nice to have you here.

ben there, dan that! only pretends to be free, you know. in reality, it cost several thousand pounds to make.

if you enjoyed it, please let us know with your hard-earned money, so that we can make more awesome games:

or if you hate the idea of paying for free stuff, you could always buy one of our other games. thanks!
